Abigail seems to have been eager to support David in his rise to power as the next king. If David were to take his own vengeance on those who wronged him, this would have made him unfit to carry out God’s mission for him (1 Samuel 25:30–31).1 As the anointed one, he had to live by faith and wait for the Lord’s way and timing with patience. He must not take fate into his own hands. He must not become like Saul.2
