Abishai thought they were on a commando raid to get rid of Saul without anyone finding out. He assumed that was the reason that David wanted to creep into the camp.1 Thinking that circumstances trump revelation, he saw Saul’s vulnerability as evidence that God wanted David to kill Saul.2
