Samson’s downfall at the hands of Delilah and the Philistines is reported at length, which recalls earlier in the book, where the narrator reported in detail the downfall of important leaders like Eglon, Sisera, and Abimelech. The irony, of course, is that this time, the leader was one of Israel's deliverers.
