The three sons of Noah are mentioned again. The point here is that we see that the whole human race came from them. They went out of the ark and conceived children. They carried out God’s mission. Everyone living on earth today is descended from one of Noah’s sons, and therefore also from Noah himself. Again, we see that the circumstances of Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 return. Everyone is descended from Adam and Noah. One of Ham’s children, Canaan, is now also mentioned. This is because he plays an important role in the following verses.
18 The sons of Noah who went forth from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.)
