Only now, after the animals, it is man’s turn! We see here the same order as we can read in Genesis 1:24–27. Man gets up and goes to work. He exerts himself all through the long, sweet day. This is the right order. This is how God has wanted it.
It is clear that we must think here of work on the land, that can only be done during the day.
By the way, for all times, it is wise that people, having worked all day, take the necessary rest during the night. Here a comment from Calvin, in his commentary for this verse, came to my attention: Here we see the wonderful providence of God, when such an awe-inspiring animal stays in its lair, so that man can go his way more freely and safely.
23 Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening.
