Who is Hacaliah?

Nehemiah 1:1 (ESV)

1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah.Now it happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Susa the citadel,

We have no information at all about Nehemiah’s father. The fact that Hacaliah is mentioned suggests that the initial readers of this book recalled this family. The name combines two Hebrew words that mean wait for Yahweh.
