In our translation, the idea of suffering leads the thought of this verse. In the Greek, however, the leading thought is the identity of God, the same God who controls all suffering. After the tensions described in the previous verses, God is introduced as “the God of all grace.” We understand that focusing on God is more beneficial than focusing on suffering.
10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
