Here, the author zooms in on the raven. There were and are various kinds of ravens in Palestine. The raven is a real survivor who also gathers food at a great distance from the nest. The author of this Psalm suggests that the young ravens do not entice their parents to give food to them by their screeching, but that their cries are a prayer to God for food, and he listens to them.
