The term translated here as “glory” is the identical word as appeared in Revelation 21:23 concerning the overwhelming splendour of God’s brightness. In relation to God, the term denotes the best he has (and is), a glory so splendidly luminous as to render the sun superfluous. In relation to kings, the term equally denotes their best, but obviously the best these exalted earthlings can produce pales in comparison to God’s glory.
