A similar reference occurred in Revelation 14:1. As there, the point is that the Lord God has laid his claim on these servants so that all may know that they belong to him. More, the placement of his name on their foreheads indicates that their thinking has been transformed to be fully God-centred; they worship their Lord and Master with all they have (Deuteronomy 6:4–5). God’s claim upon his children is, of course, not something new for the New Jerusalem but a reality in the present dispensation; though in weakness, saints already serve the Lord.
4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
