Despite all questions, the author of Ecclesiastes has learned to see that God's work has eternal significance. We may sometimes think that certain things are lacking in God's work. We may think that certain things could be better. It often seems that way. When the Preacher looks closely, he realizes that this is not the case. God's work really could not be improved upon, for it is the Lord only who sees through everything and who foresees everything in his godly wisdom. Nothing can be added to his work, and nothing can be taken away from it either.
It is important that we as humans understand this clearly and therefore worship God's wisdom with reverence. It is about learning to fear God, to have a deep respect for him, and to worship him accordingly.
14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
