The psalm forms a very cohesive unit, but can be studied in four recognizable parts:
Psalm 8:1–2: the majesty and might of God
Psalm 8:4–5: man’s sense of insignificance
Psalm 8:6–8: the function/role God has destined for man
Psalm 8:9: praise of God
1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
