There is a suggestion in this verse that there were a number of individuals gathering in the temple courts waiting for the coming of the Messiah. We know that there was lots of speculation and talk in Israel at the time and that many people were looking forward to the coming of the Christ. Though the focus of his work would be in Jerusalem, the centre of Israel, it would serve to benefit all God’s people.1 Presumably, Anna goes to speak to these people and tell them that the Christ has come after she has seen him in the arms of Mary.
38 And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
