Israel responded with obedience to the Lord's command to depart from Horeb. The wilderness journey from Horeb to Kadesh-barnea, more than one hundred miles, was vast and life-threatening, a nearly waterless plateau. Moses' description points to the Lord's guidance of his people, and their obedience. That brought them to Kadesh-barnea, the border of the Promised Land.
19 “Then we set out from Horeb and went through all that great and terrifying wilderness that you saw, on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us. And we came to Kadesh-barnea.
