The concept of reaping what you sow is a general principle drawn from agricultural (see Genesis 8:22). 1 In one sense it is specifically connected to giving to support the ministry of God’s Word. 2 If you are unwilling to support faithful Bible teachers, then you will not reap faithful Bible teaching. 3 The phrase could also be connected to more general living, in which case the whole of one’s earthly life is a period of sowing, with a harvest waiting on the last day. In this case, we are called to make good use of the time that we have been given by God (see Ephesians 5:16). 4
