Those who mourn
are those who groan under the burden of sorrow and guilt and turn to God for forgiveness. 1 Such people are not morose, but grieve their personal sin (Isaiah 6:5; Joel 2:12–13; Romans 7:24), as well as the sin they see in this world (including its effects). 2 It pains them to see the God whom they love dishonoured Psalm 119:136). 3
