Peter’s summary of his epistle as a brief description of the true grace of God cannot be ignored in an effort to understand this letter. Though the life of a person reborn through the working of God so as to have that heaven-centred worldview with its eternal perspective leads to misunderstanding and suspicion and evil talk and even persecution, the privilege of belonging to God in this life and the life to come is the ultimate in grace. All trials pale in comparison to that wealth!
