What is striking about the brothers’ question?

Judges 18:8 (ESV)

8 And when they came to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers said to them, “What do you report?”

In the original, the question What do you report? is a sentence fragment, which actually reads, What you? It may be that either the tribespeople are so eager to hear the report or the spies are so eager to give it that the spies cut off those asking the question. As readers we are expected to supply the ending, such as the ESV’s; thus, What do you report?1
