1. Judges 18:9 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What are clues that this account gives an abbreviated report?

Judges 18:9 (ESV)

9 They said, “Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. And will you do nothing? Do not be slow to go, to enter in and possess the land.

The narrator likely gives us an abbreviation of the report of the spies. For one, there is no antecedent to which let us go up against them refers. Furthermore, the mention of the land assumes that the tribespeople know which specific land is in view.
