What is the content of Joshua 10?

Joshua 10:1–43 (ESV)

1 As soon as Adoni-zedek, king of Jerusalem, heard how Joshua had captured Ai and had devoted it to destruction, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them,

Joshua 10 shows us the plan of five Canaanite kings to avoid destruction. They band together, joining their forces in an attempt to defeat Israel. Despite being outnumbered and outmuscled, the people of Israel act in faith by trusting God to fight for them. As a result, they make the arduous journey from Gilgal to Gibeon and attack the army of these Amorite kings. The Lord fights on their behalf and he miraculously intervenes to destroy the armies of the Canaanites. Following the initial battle, the armies of Joshua pursue the Canaanites, capture and kill their kings and then besiege each of their cities one by one. Once they have destroyed all the people living in the main cities of southern Canaan, they return to their camp at Gilgal. This chapter shows us that no one can stop the Lord from accomplishing his purposes.
