What is the penalty for disobedience?

Leviticus 20:2 (ESV)

2 “Say to the people of Israel, Any one of the people of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones.

The penalty for participation in such pagan worship is death. The method of capital punishment is public stoning. Deuteronomy 17:2–7 describe the procedure for stoning. First, there is a trial in which a person can only be convicted on the basis of two or three witnesses. Thereafter, the witnesses are the first to throw stones at the guilty party. This usually takes place outside the camp.
