God the Son came to do the Father’s will in all things. Throughout his life and ministry on earth, Jesus Christ was singly focused on pleasing God. He gave himself to doing many different good works, thereby laying up treasure in heaven. He also did not give room for his own desires above those of the Father, and, though tempted, did not consider money to be a source of comfort. As a result of his perfect obedience, he merited eternal life in God’s presence. He was also able to die in the place of sinners who disobey God’s law, a substitutionary atonement for the sins of God’s people.
