Joshua 11:1-15 recounts another battle that took place during Israel’s conquest of Canaan. This was the biggest battle that Israel would take part in as they fought against the wealthy and numerous northern nations. Because Joshua believed the Lord to be sovereign, he was willing to attack the northern army even though he was vastly outnumbered; he trusts the Lord to give the victory. In this, his actions are to be commended, and there are several occasions where the text emphasizes Joshua’s obedience (Joshua 11:9, Joshua 11:12, Joshua 11:15).
