A mustard seed was in those days the smallest seed—not even a millimetre—that was known, and the mulberry tree was of an impressive size: it could become 10 meters high.
Via this image, Jesus makes clear to his followers that even a small faith can bring forth great effects. Of utmost importance is that people entrust themselves to the Lord.
With the Lord innumerable powers are stored, ready to be used. When it fits in God’s plan, he will give from those powers.
Think of what Moses and Elijah were able to do! (Exodus 14:21–22; 1 Kings 18:30–39).
