Suddenly and overwhelmingly, lightning streaks along the skies. This is how the Son of Man will suddenly reappear. Before every eye and worldwide, he will manifest himself in full power.
The apostle John once saw the resplendence of Jesus in a heavenly vision and wrote it down for us with these words: His voice was like the roar of many waters…and his face was like the sun shining in full strength
(Revelation 1:15–16), so imposing will be the coming of the Son of Man when he returns. All doubts about the coming of God’s kingdom will then be over forever. Jesus will shine brightly in the sight of all.
24 For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.
