This verse illustrates a truth even more terrifying than that of the previous verse. Not only did the Lord refuse to help Judah, he also became her enemy who attacked her. He either killed or took away everyone who was beautiful in her—the young people, the military heroes, the woman and children, the priests and princes. Just as he had warned through Moses, he shot his own arrows against his people (Deuteronomy 32:23).
4 He has bent his bow like an enemy, with his right hand set like a foe; and he has killed all who were delightful in our eyes in the tent of the daughter of Zion; he has poured out his fury like fire.
