Commentary on Job 22:3 (Summary)

Job 22:3 (ESV)

3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are in the right, or is it gain to him if you make your ways blameless?

Eliphaz views God as distant and emotionally uninvolved. This is very different from how God reveals himself in the Bible. He is the Lord who commits himself to his people in steadfast, covenantal love, and who delights in their obedience (1 Samuel 15:22).
