The old man says, No, my brothers, do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, do not do this vile thing.
He appeals to them as his brothers, but he opposes them because their doing this vile thing would be an offence against hospitality! That is the same reason that Lot gave to his visitors: Do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof
(Genesis 19:8).
23 And the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, “No, my brothers, do not act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, do not do this vile thing.
