In this text we see Martha serving the Lord Jesus. And as Martha serves the Lord Jesus, she is bringing the fact of that service before Him, and Martha is rebuked a bit when Jesus says,
Nathan EshelmanMary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken from her.Jesus is not rebuking the fact that Martha is serving – we need those that serve in the church – but He is rebuking the fact that she is serving anxiously and she is troubled in her service. Her heart is not in it as she is serving the Lord Jesus Christ.1
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”
