Tested through false signs and wonders

Exodus 7:11 (ESV)

11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts.

Not only God, but also the devil, can perform wonders through people who serve him. Jesus warns us about false messiahs and false prophets who perform wonders (Matthew 24:24), and Paul writes in 2 Thessalonians 2:9, The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders. See also Revelation 13:13 (the beast of the earth performing great signs).

The battle of Moses is just like ours, a spiritual battle:

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:12–13)

God can use the wonders of false prophets to test us. Do we love the Lord with heart and soul? God will test us through false prophets. Deuteronomy 13:4 says, You shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you. In other words, do not listen to those who are drawing you away from (serving) the Lord!
