Jeremiah thinks back on his life and describes it in four words: affliction, wandering, bitterness, and gall. Yet, it seems that he can now begin to move on, because he prays for the first time in this song. He cannot bear to remember all the suffering anymore, but he prays in verse 19 that the Lord will: “Remember…”
