How does being reconciled to God change us?

Romans 5:11 (ESV)

11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

In Romans 5:11 Paul again returns to the reality of God’s love in our hearts: we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus, we share in the acquittal that he has accomplished: through whom we have now received reconciliation. But more than that: through the Lord Jesus we are miraculously changed so that we, who were God’s enemies, can now sincerely rejoice in God. This refers to the prayer to the Father in the hearts of the believers and to the songs of praise they sing to him. This echo from the believer reveals the divine voice of love. The ungodly are drawn closer to the glorious One. He is already central not only in their prayers but also in their speech.1
