Lamentations 3:49–51 (ESV)

49 “My eyes will flow without ceasing, without respite,

Jeremiah believes that the Lord will still show mercy (see verse 32). But until this happens, he will weep. Only one thing will cause his eyes to stop flowing: when the Lord looks down on them again in mercy.

Jeremiah especially grieves for the women of his city (see Lamentations 1:4, Lamentations 1:18; Lamentations 2:10; Lamentations 2:20–21) . Think of all the women who must have lost their husbands, fiancés, and children in the war. Many women were also raped by Babylonian soldiers (Lamentations 5:11).
