The temple is the foundation that God has set on the holy mountain. While Jerusalem, the city associated with Zion, was constructed well before the Israelites took it under David (2 Samuel 5:6–10), God founded Jerusalem spiritually when he directed Solomon to build the temple there (1 Chronicles 17:11–12).1
