“My works” does not refer to works that Jesus does, but refers instead to the works the Christian will do in response to obedience to Jesus’ commands (see John 15:10–17). “My works,” then, contrasts with the sort of works that characterize Jezebel’s group. The child of God who expects all his needs from the Father’s faithful hand (Matthew 6:25–34) will persevere in that obedience till the day of Christ’s return.
