Christ pledges here to be faithful to his own promise. During his time on earth he had promised to acknowledge before the Father in heaven (Matthew 10:32) and before the angels (Luke 12:8) all who acknowledged him before people. As he wants his people to be faithful to him, he pledges to be faithful to them even in the great judgment. And the Father who was well pleased with his Son’s work will surely receive these sinners on the strength of Christ’s intercession and acknowledgement.
5 The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
