Mordecai’s colleagues could not have foreseen that their disclosure would have such a catastrophic effect. Haman was full of his nation’s ancient hatred toward God’s people. And now, he had an opportunity to wipe out all of them. After all, he was the viceroy of the Persian empire, and the Persian empire included all the provinces where the Jews lived, even the province of Judah!
6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.
