Esther 5:2 (ESV)

2 And when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she won favor in his sight, and he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter.

In this dangerous moment, God again directed the king’s heart, as a farmer would direct a stream of water (Proverbs 21:1). The sight of the beautiful Esther pleased Xerxes, and he held out his gold sceptre to welcome her into his presence. We can only imagine the silent prayer of thanks that Esther breathed out to her God, as she walked to the king!
