What distinguished John’s baptism from Proselyte baptism?
Matthew 3:13 (ESV)
13Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordanto John, to be baptized by him.
Proselyte baptism was where a Gentile underwent “baptism” after conversion to Judaism and circumcision. John’s baptism was where a Jew or Israelite received baptism after confessing his sins (Matthew 3:6).
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
