The king was pleased with Esther’s invitation to be his new court favourite. He immediately called Haman who, proud as he was, did not hesitate at the chance of dining with the king and queen of the Persian Empire! One can imagine the self-restraint that it cost Esther to welcome Haman, the Jew-hater, at her table.
5 Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that we may do as Esther has asked.” So the king and Haman came to the feast that Esther had prepared.
