Esther 8:6 (ESV)

6 For how can I bear to see the calamity that is coming to my people? Or how can I bear to see the destruction of my kindred?”

Having just received the entire estate of Haman, Esther was the wealthiest woman in the Persian Empire. However, this meant nothing to her if her people and family were going to be destroyed. Just as Jeremiah had done in Lamentations, and Christ would later do when looking at Jerusalem, Esther wept for the people of God. Do we feel the same concern, when we look at the threats that are faced by the church today? Are we also moved to prayer and action, as Esther had been moved?
