Mark 8:22 – 10:52 can be considered the middle section of the Gospel. It focuses on Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem. This section is framed
by two accounts of the healing of a blind man (Mark 8:22–26; Mark 10:45–52) and contains three predictions by Jesus regarding his future suffering, death and resurrection (Mark 8:31; Mark 9:31; Mark 10:33–34). Jesus focuses on teaching his disciples what it means to follow him and what he came to do. As a result, this section of the Gospel is often described as the discipleship section.
