1. Judges 1:34 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How does this Mention of the Danites reveal the climax in Israel’s failure?

Judges 1:34 (ESV)

34 The Amorites pressed the people of Dan back into the hill country, for they did not allow them to come down to the plain.

Israel’s failure to drive out the nations climaxes here, as signalled by the omission of the formula, Neither did Dan drive out… As a matter of fact, not only do the Danites fail to drive out their enemies who were inhabiting their inheritance, but they are instead confined by the Amorites and not allowed to come down into the plain! The Canaanites are driving out the children of God!
