In a certain sense, Philippians 1:26 presents an ideal picture. When (among other things by way of this letter) the Philippians’ faith grows and brings forth lasting joy (instead of grumbling and disputing: Philippians 2:14; Philippians 4:2–3, Philippians 4:6), a situation will arise wherein all will be united in joy upon his arrival! In his enthusiasm Paul gets ahead of himself concerning the facts and thus positively stimulates the readers to carry on reading this letter.1
26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.
