Previously, the narrator said that the Lord gave
the enemy king Cushan-Rishathaim into Othniel’s hand (Judges 3:10). Here, though, there is indirectness: the role of the Lord in the account, mentioned only here after Judges 3:15, is made known by Ehud’s voice and not by the narrator, and it appears as part of Ehud’s instruction to his troops after the killing of the enemy king.1
28 And he said to them, “Follow after me, for the LORD has given your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” So they went down after him and seized the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites and did not allow anyone to pass over.
