14 From Ephraim their root they marched down into the valley, following you, Benjamin, with your kinsmen; from Machir marched down the commanders, and from Zebulun those who bear the lieutenant’s staff;

In these verses, “Deborah recites the roll of Israelite warriors. However, in so doing she laments the incompleteness of the list. The catalog of troops is divided into three groups: the volunteers (Judges 5:14–15a); the resistors (Judges 5:15–17); the award winners (Judges 5:18)."1
