The Greek shows that Jesus said, “I am about to spit you out.” The use of the verb “am about to” indicates that Jesus will not immediately spit them out. The church in Laodicea receives a window of opportunity to respond obediently and submissively to the rebuke Jesus directs against her in this letter.
16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
