Christ as the fulfillment of God's promises

Ezra 1:1–11 (ESV)

1 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

In the person of Jesus Christ, God entered into our history (John 1:14). He lived a perfect life on our behalf. He is the promised Messiah of God who came to crush the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15). Through his death on the cross he paid for the sins of all God’s people, just as God had promised he would (Isaiah 53:1–12).

All the promises of God are Yes and Amen in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Jesus Christ is proof that God is at work in history to keep his promises.
