When no one was found worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, John had wept loudly. Now that one (only one!) from all of heaven, earth, and under the earth has been found worthy, the creatures of heaven responded with fitting homage. In the eye of our mind we can see all these creatures on their faces before the slain yet resurrected and ascended Lamb, who is now holding the scroll in his hand. We need to remember that the Lord God had strictly forbidden worship of creatures. Yet these elders and living creatures worship the Lamb, thereby acknowledging that he is in fact God.
8 And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
