These words are a clear allusion to God’s words concerning Israel in Exodus 19:6. God had redeemed an enslaved people from Egypt and then told them, “You shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Those whom the Lamb ransomed from every tribe and language and people and nation would now be the new Israel.
10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”
